CNG stations in Nigeria

The availability of  CNG stations in Nigeria has been a topic of discussion.

Nigeria is known for being one of the largest oil-producing countries in Africa. However,

despite this abundance of natural resources, the country still faces numerous energy challenges such as inadequate power supply and high fuel prices.

In an effort to address these issues and promote sustainable energy solutions, Nigeria has turned its attention towards CNG.

The following mainly introduces the functional configuration of CNG container gas filling stations.

CNG substation:

The trailer supplies air to the compressor through the air unloading column and then pressurizes the compressor to the set pressure (18–25MPa) to refill the high and medium-pressure gas storage cylinder group.

During this process, the gas vending machine supplies air to the outside world. High- and medium-pressure gas sales are carried out, while low-pressure gas sales are completed by direct charging from the trailer. When the trailer pressure is high, the medium-pressure bottle group is directly charged from the trailer.

The sub-station compressor of the non-station gas storage system adopts integrated technology and has the characteristics of a small footprint,

low investment, fast results, mobility, low energy consumption, intelligence, high efficiency, energy saving, and safety.

This model has strong adaptability and is suitable for station building in the wild,

station building in small urban planning areas, situations where irregular station transfers are required other busier gas filling stations need to be supplemented, etc.

Features:

The CNG filling skid complete set of equipment is a terminal system equipment for filling CNG fuel vehicles with CNG fuel.

In order to meet the normal operation requirements, the complete set of CNG filling skid equipment mainly includes process functions such as unloading,

gas filling, pressurization, and release. Its working principle is: that CNG is unloaded from the vehicle through the gas unloading column from the tube bundle,

and is pressurized by the CNG compressor to the gas storage bottle group.

The gas storage bottle group supplies gas to the CNG gas dispenser and is filled into the vehicle after being measured by the gas dispenser.

CNG cylinder; the instrument air system provides the power source for the automatic valve;

the equipment is suitable for various gas filling stations that charge CNG fuel vehicles.

Equipment composition:

The complete set of equipment of the CNG substation consists of a CNG gas unloading column,

a substation compressor, a CNG gas storage bottle group, a CNG gas dispenser,

an IC card charging system, a gas alarm system, and connecting pipes and valves.

Process flow description:

Unloading process: CNG tube bundle trailer-gas unloading column-compressor-CNG gas storage bottle group.

The CNG pipe bundle trailer transports CNG to the gas filling station and injects CNG into the CNG gas storage bottle group of the gas filling station through the gas unloading column, compressor, valve, etc.

Gas filling process: CNG gas storage bottle group – pipeline – CNG gas dispenser – CNG vehicle on-board cylinder.

CNG gas enters the CNG gas dispenser from the high-pressure gas storage bottle group through the pipeline and is added to the CNG vehicle-mounted gas bottle after gas metering.

The quality (or cubic meter) and price are displayed on the gas dispenser panel.

Discharge process: CNG bottle group/pipeline—safety valve—discharge pipe EAG heater—discharge.

When the pressure in the CNG bottle group is higher than the set pressure set by the safety valve, the safety valve automatically opens,

and the BOG gas is output to the EAG heater through the pipeline for heating and then released;

when the pressure of the CNG gas in the high-pressure pipeline is higher than the set pressure of the safety valve,

the high-pressure safety valve opens automatically and is output to the high-pressure EAG heater through the pipeline for heating and release.

PLC control system

1) System Introduction

The function of the PLC control system is to provide power for the main equipment in the gas station to control the safe operation of the gas station.

It mainly includes equipment such as power distribution cabinets (soft start cabinets),

UPS power supplies, power lines, PLC control cabinets, and IC card gas charging systems (including charging computers).

The electrical automatic control part is set up in the station control room.

The system consists of on-site intelligent instruments, solenoid valves, PLC controllers, industrial computers, and other equipment.

2) Main functions of the control system

(1) Control function

The control system realizes the operation control of the pump based on the pressure of the gas storage bottle group and the temperature of the pump.

When the pressure of the gas storage bottle group reaches the upper limit,

it will automatically stop to ensure the safety of the system.

When the pressure of the gas storage bottle group is lower than the lower limit the value is reached,

the high-pressure pump starts to realize the automatic inflation function,

and the entire system operates fully automatically to ensure that the system operates safely and efficiently.

(2) Data query and report printing functions

The control system has historical records that store equipment data and alarm information. These historical data can be used to generate daily reports,

shift reports, and hourly reports, and the reports can be printed through the supporting printer, and the above data can be remotely transmitted to the company-level management system.

(3) Communication function

The control system reserves a standard MODBUS protocol interface to display and save collected data,

alarms, and other information on the host computer, and can be connected to the Internet.
