1. Number of public EV chargers worldwide
In recent years, the number of global public EV chargers has continued to increase, from 441,000 in 2017 to 1.308 million in 2020,
with an average annual compound growth rate of 43.68%. As the global public EV charger industry continues to heat up,
it is estimated that the number of global public EV chargers will reach 1.926 million in 2021, and it will further reach 2.765 million in 2022.

4. The composition of the source countries of global EV charger patent applications
At present, China is the world’s largest technology source country for EV chargers,
and the number of EV charger-related patent applications accounted for 73.7% of the world’s total EV charger-related patent applications.
Secondly, the proportion of patent applications related to EV chargers in the United States accounted for 8.4%.
The proportion of EV charger-related patent applications in Germany, South Korea, and Japan accounted for 7.3%, 2.4%, and 2.3%, respectively.

6. 2022 China’s EV charger industry market status and development prospect forecast analysis
On December 14, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Notice on the Implementation Plan for Rejuvenating Industrial Economic Operation and Promoting High-quality Industrial Development”. It was proposed that the promotion and application of new energy vehicles should be accelerated, and supporting facilities such as EV chargers and power station replacement should be accelerated. Construction, to further promote the construction of charging infrastructure and bring development opportunities to my country’s EV charger industry.
6.1 The number of public EV chargers continues to grow
The data shows that as of November 2021, the member units of the alliance have reported a total of 1.092 million public EV chargers, an increase of 30 thousand units from the previous month, and a year-on-year increase of 57.1%. Among them, there are 45 million DC EV chargers, 646,000 AC EV chargers, and 406 AC and DC-integrated EV chargers. From December 2020 to November 2021, approximately 33,000 public EV chargers will be added every month.
6.2 The increase in the number of charging facilities built with vehicles continues to rise
From January to November 2021, the incremental increase in charging facilities built with vehicles will continue to rise, up by 198.1% year-on-year, and the increase in public charging infrastructure will increase by 59.1% year-on-year. As of November 2021, 1.293 million EV chargers have been built with vehicles.
6.3 Policies are Good for industry development
As the new energy automobile industry is still in a stage of development difficulties, many uncertain factors, and immature technologies and products, the government should also give strong support to this emerging industry. Will continue to promote high-power charging technology demonstration technology verification, through the establishment of high-power charging demonstration pilot projects, and carry out high-power charging technology-related standard pre-research work. As a supplement to the existing charging mode, further, accelerate the promotion and application of AC charging sockets, and continuously improve the formulation and implementation of related technical standards such as the “Integrated AC Power Supply Standard for Conductive Charging of Electric Vehicles”.
6.4 New energy vehicles drive industry development
In the future, new energy vehicle energy replenishment methods will be diversified and scene-oriented. As a supplement to operational vehicle energy replenishment methods, battery swap will be further developed. It is expected that more car companies will develop and apply battery swap models in 2025. For example, cities with a relatively concentrated operation of vehicles will actively promote power exchange models and will provide policy support. Through the promotion of a certain scale of power exchange stations, promote the technological advancement and standardization of power exchange facilities, and explore new development paths and operating models.
6.5 The number of EV chargers will increase

With the construction of charging stations, the ratio of my country’s new energy vehicles and EV chargers has gradually become more reasonable.
