How to choose a submersible pump?

In the fuel retail industry, the construction and upgrading of gas stations is critical. Among them,  submersible pumps are more and more widely used in gas stations due to their large lift,

multiple nozzles in one fuel dispenser, and convenient installation and maintenance. It has gradually replaced the traditional self-priming fuel dispensers and has become the choice of the majority of gas station operators.

So how do you choose a submersible pump?

In the first step, according to the hardware facilities of the gas station, the diameter of the fuel tank,

the diameter of the pipeline, etc., and the power supply voltage of the place of use.

In the second step, refer to the pipeline distribution map of the gas station to obtain parameters such as the length and specification of the fuel pipeline,

the distribution of fuel islands, and the number of fuel dispensers.

The third step is to determine the use and allocation of fuel nozzles at gas stations during peak hours.

The fourth step is to select the most suitable and efficient submersible pumps according to the submersible pump performance curve provided by the manufacturer.

Note: The key to the selection of the submersible pump is to determine the quantity of effective fuel nozzles required.

On this basis, according to the lift-flow curve provided by each manufacturer, the type of submersible pump required can be determined.

Example 1:

A gas station retailing 95# gasoline

-A total of 6 pieces of nozzles for 95# gasoline;

-The standard flow rate of each nozzle is 40 liters per minute.

-The maximum quantity of nozzles used at the same time during the refueling peak is 4 pieces.

Submersible pump performance curve

Conclusion: Referring to the performance curve of the submersible pump, a 1.5HP submersible pump can be selected,

which can fully meet the flow rate requirements of 4-piece fuel nozzles when refueling at the same time during the peak period.

Example 2:

A gas station retailing 92# gasoline

-A total of 8 pieces of nozzles for 92# gasoline;

-The standard flow rate of each nozzle is 40 liters per minute.

– The maximum quantity of nozzles used at the same time during the refueling peak is 6 pieces.

Conclusion: Referring to the performance curve of the submersible pump, a 2.0HP submersible pump can be selected,

which can fully meet the flow rate requirements of 6-piece fuel nozzles when refueling at the same time during the peak period.

Each brand of submersible pump has different models, which can meet the different flow and lift requirements of gas stations. For the same gas station,

due to the different sales volumes of each fuel product and whether the fuel contains additives,

the suitable submersible pumps can be flexibly selected according to the actual needs of the gas station and the characteristics of different products.

Different models of submersible pumps

Choosing the right submersible pump can reduce investment costs, increase operational safety, and improve gas station sales.
