Normally, there are three types of flow meters that we widely use in fuel dispensers: 1. Tatsuno type flow meter, 2. Tokheim type flow meter, 3. Bennett-type flow meter
Tatsuno type flow meter(RT-FM4 or RT-FM4B)
Compared with other types of flow meters, the Tatsuno type flowmeter is finer workmanship. This makes this type of flowmeter with high accuracy. And its main material is aluminum, which greatly reduces the weight of the product itself. According to this that the Tatsuno-type flowmeter will be more suitable for making multi-nozzle-type dispensers. However, the disadvantage is also obvious, it is easy to be broken with dirty oil.
Tokheim type flow meter(RT-FM3)
The difference between the Tokheim type flowmeter and the other types is that it’s made of iron, so it can maintain high accuracy and be suitable for dirty oil. But it’s much heavier than other flowmeters, which are made of aluminum. The Tokheim-type flowmeter will usually be used for the single-nozzle, double-nozzle, and four-nozzle fuel dispensers. And because it’s made of iron, it’s easy to break when the water comes inside.
Bennett type flowmeter(RT-FM1)
The Bennett-type flowmeter is similar to the Tatsuno type. Both of them are made of aluminum. And both of them are highly accurate and fit for multi-nozzle-type fuel dispensers. The customer may choose a Bennett-type flowmeter mainly because of the brand name. The original Bennett dispensers were developed in their market much earlier and made this type popular.
